Mission and Priorities
The mission of the Chinese Arts and Humanities Initiative is to serve as an interdisciplinary platform to promote and advance scholarship and education in various fields of Chinese arts and humanities at GW. Housed in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, the initiative also aims to promote student interest in and understanding of Chinese language, culture and arts to enhance their studies in related fields.
Our programming and events include guest lectures, research talks and panel discussions, workshops, symposia, conferences, film screenings, opera and other music performances and art exhibitions.
Scholarly and Educational Support
The Chinese Arts & Humanities Initiative provides support to GW faculty who pursue groundbreaking research in an array of related disciplines, helping them remain on the cutting-edge of innovation and discovery. The center also welcomes visiting scholars to GW to collaborate with GW faculty and researchers. Fields of study include but are not limited to:

Community Outreach
The initiative offers volunteer opportunities for cultural events hosted in conjunction with local cultural institutions and museums. We also work with student groups with interests in Chinese arts and humanities, including the Chinese-American community on campus and beyond.
